Think of Food as Your Warrior
For you, is food a fuel to energise your body?
Do you mindfully choose foods that have the nutrients that you need at a particular time in your life?
Or is it more of a comforter during times of boredom and loneliness where you suddenly crave those sugary, fatty, processed foods?
Perhaps you’re somewhere in between.
During weight loss, there are many reasons why people struggle to achieve or maintain their goal.
By far one of the of the most common frustrations I hear is that during times of stress or high emotion people find it difficult to keep their focus on mindful, healthy eating.
When they're trying to lose weight, they see 'healthy eating' as an extra task, an extra job to be done when they’re already feeling stretched and stressed.
Instead they crave for and give in to the sugary, processed, fatty foods.
This leaves them feeling lethargic, tired and demotivated and even worse than they felt in the first place.
So they crave even more of the same and around the cycle goes.
Research has shown that the right types of food have many positive effects on the body and the brain and such foods can reduce anxiety and depression and can even help to prevent chronic illnesses.
What I would like to suggest to you is that from today you start to think of nutritious food as a resource.
A fuel to energise you.
Your warrior during times of stress.
Inviting this into your life rather than it being an extra burden.
Realising that you need it now more than ever.
Helping you to cope with what life throws at you.
Changing how you think about food in this way is one of the keys to achieving and sustaining weight loss.
You'll thank yourself for it.
